Flamethrowers! Skuzzi at Electric Picnic - Arcadia stage

Arcadia! Not the region in southern greece, nor a poetic idyllism meaning “Utopia”…….but a SPECTACULAR!

As close to utopia as you could get at the Electric Picnic, if your idea of utopia is a massive Geigeresque spaceship-lookin’ yoke that ejaculates plumes of fire 20 foot into the air every few seconds!  As far as Skuzzi port are concerned it was utopian to be elevated 2 meteres off the ground surrounded by a 360 degree Funktion 1 soundsystem on a futuristic metalic construction bathed in luminescant neon light, while hordes of people mingled around the branches of the copper pipe trees which also breathed and belched orange and gold fireballs.

This incarnation, the brainchild of a bunch of modern day British ironsmiths with access to a military scrapyard, travels from festival to festival around the anglo island and once a year stretches its mettalic claws into our fair ol’ Eire for the feast of electricity!

From this beast Skuzzi performed what has to be our most impassioned and extroverted concert since the fission of the ancient atoms!  As the dusk set upon the site Skuzzi mounted the heart of the dragon and calibrated the frequencys of our instruments to be in sync with the firey excretions of the Arcadia rig to form a symbiotic fire breathing, musically thumping art cyborg of pleasure!

The crowd rejoiced as the sonic shockwaves washed over them.  Syncopated rhythms topped with a sheen of fire and strobe vibrated the arena drenching them with spectacle as the monster truly roared!  For Skuzzi it was an honour to grip the scaly mettalic teeth of the Arcadia stage at the Electric Picnic and an honour to play to all the music lovers out there who appreciate a bit of theatrics!

It is for you the beast surges forward………..

Much Skuzzi Love

New videos of the gig at Knockanstockan

A huge thanks to Tris Dalton at 147 studios for creating these videos for us, and an equally huge thanks to the dedicated volunteer crew that worked on Knockanstockan.

Three new videos have been added to the video page, comments welcome!

Skuzzi gets light snack from Hadron collider.......

Hey all, Skuzzi here. After a short spin around the nebula I’m back and feeling great!.

We had a blast at Life Festival managing to get our maximal full band & electro set in before the ultra minimal Ricardo Villalobos popped out his kick drums and bleeps.

The sun was splitting the stones as Skuzzi had done a shit of unobtanium directly into the core of the sun to boost solar activity specially for the set. The view from the stage was magnificent – overlooking the lake where hoards of people frolicked actively pursuing sunstroke, and from the look of a few heads temporary sun delirium was in full effect.  Once again the Human Music and Knockanstockan crew made the whole thing a pleasure to play!  Cheers lads!

Keys corner with chaos pad

Next on the agenda is getting the heads down in the studio and hopefully having a whole load of tracks recorded to get out at Knockanstockan, the awesome festival in Blessington where we will be playing on Sat 24th at midnight in the Circus tent (subject to change).

The studio is coming on great with all the gear finally hardwired and active. The keys corner is sprawling more every day,  there are 10 units in the midi chain and counting… it’s pretty mental….and fun…..  Currently the drums are fully mic’d up and we are getting tracks down every chance we get.  It’s sweet,  can’t wait to get some midi triggers for Pete’s kit so he can integrate the drum machine…wop wop wop..

Skuzzi must roll now to create a hot box inside a black hole and pull a spinback on the rings of Saturn so until next time …..Skuzzi loves ya!

Stage time confirmed for Life - 12 noon - 2pm by the lake

The folks at Human Music have invited us to play from 12-2pm on their stage, which is rather early on Saturday afternoon by our standards, but we are looking forwards to warming up a big crowd for Ricardo Villalobos, the headliner minimalist maestro DJ who will be taking to the stage directly after us at 2pm.

Any special requests for tunes?  We’re working up the set list now and if there are any Skuzzi tunes that you’d like to hear, just let us know by commenting below and we’ll see if we can work them into the groove.

Here is the festival line-up, which has recently been sent out through facebook. It’s probably subject to change a little!

Short notice party at The Village

A friend called me on Friday night with a class offer – a slot has just opened up headlining the Village the next night, did we want to take it.  Hell yeah!

With Life festival coming up, we wanted to test out some of the new sounds on a top class PA.  And let’s not forget the quality of the Village sound and production crew, they always make us delighted!

Thanks to the new ears that joined the mob, you’ll be getting your welcome emails and free tunes soon.  There are some fun recordings going down in the new studio, we’ll let you know when they are ready for your listening pleasure.

Much Love,

Skuzzi.

A big welcome to Drummer Pete!

For many years I’ve been grooving with these bonesacks, interacting with laptops and old synths, and in fairness, the computers were making the best beats that they could. But there was a part of the soundscape missing that I longed for!

Polyrhythms, back beat and cowbell… all great. All easy for the machines. But hark now, a new man steps forward and joins the Skuzzi tribe. Oh joy! He brings paradiddle, flamadiddle, paradiddlediddle, pataflafla and mmmmm ratamacue!! Not to mention his swiss army triplets and gentle hi hat splash.

Welcome, from me Skuzzi Port, to our newest recruit Drummer Pete.

Your friend,

Skuzzi Port
